Pastor Newton K. Trimmer was born in Sparta Wisconsin, to Newton S and Ruth A. Trimmer. He is the youngest of three children. Today, his oldest sister lives near Dayton, Ohio and the middle sister lives in Oxford, WI.
Pastor Trimmer graduated from Portage High School in Portage, Wisconsin in 1977.
He attended Madison Area Technical College in Madison WI to study diesel mechanics.
He was employed for nearly 17 years at Wisconsin Power and Light Company.
While there, he obtained Journeyman Certifications in residential HVAC repair, major appliance repair and delivery, and industrial welding and service. Ending his first carrier as a Service Training Specialist in 1995, he began his education to prepare him for his 2nd carrier as a minister of the Gospel. He graduated from Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota in May of 1998.
After receiving a Masters in Divinity from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin, in May 2002, he was assigned to serve two churches, one in Valley City and the other in Jamestown, ND.
Pastor Trimmer is married to Karen Ashley (Trimmer), this October. Karen attended high school from Fall River, WI and graduated from Madison Area Technical College with an Associates Degree in Computer programming. She has worked in the computer field for years and most recently served the WELS in the IT department in Milwaukee, WI. Karen has been involved in refereeing volleyball and basketball for over 20 years and continues to do so in the Maryland area.
Pastor Trimmer and Karen have three children. The oldest of the three is Aaron, who teaches the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at St. Paul’s, a WELS grade school in Columbus, Ohio.
Noah, the second child is married and lives in Yale, MI. He continues to pursue his college education in vocal music and mathematics. His wife, Brittany, teaches grades 1-8 at Emmanuel Redeemer, a WELS school in Yale, MI.
Rachel is the youngest. She attends Great Plains Lutheran High School in Watertown, SD. Rachel has years of classical dance training and enjoys singing and acting.
